On AI
AI really is everywhere now - and its getting more and more powerful every day (as it learns from more and more of our human art). It seems every app or utility I use has now been ‘enhanced’ with an ‘Ask AI’ button, of various degrees of visibility and annoyance. I like AI as a tool to help me understand things, and I love using it to write code. CSS used to be an absolute nightmare for me, but with the assistance of AI I can get the results I want quickly.
I am a paid user of Claude, both at home and at work.
Where I draw the line in my use of AI is anything that I do creatively.
I will never use AI in any of my creative writing, both here on this website, and anywhere else you might find my work.
As well as writing, I also make my own music. I will never use AI to create any of my own original music.
Where I will use AI is in any form of software development. This is where I think it proves most useful. Software development includes work on the design, structure and layout of this website, but I won’t ever use AI on any of the writing found here.
